Hair Trends for 2013

Get ready for 2013 with the new hair trends for Spring! Out goes the french twist, side waves and mod bob and in with the new. The hair trends for the new year include the knot, low pony and the slick. Just to name a few... In this post we will show you the latest hair trends to hit the catwalk ready for 2013. This years hair trends are simple but complex and can be achieved easily at home. Why not ring in the New Year with a hairstyle ready for 2013.

The Knot



The best way to describe this tightly wound knot is simple but striking. It is a very wearable style and can be created easily. To achieve this look:

• Blow-dry your hair straight.
• Centre part your hair (if you want to).
• Secure hair into a firm ponytail at the nape and spritz with shine mist.

You have then created the look and you can choose to wrap the tail into any look that you prefer, e.g, a loop with the ends pointing up or tucked under, a round ballet bun, or the classic double knot. Seal your hair with a spritz of anti-frizz spray.

The Braid



Throughout every season the braid has been appealing. It is so simple yet it can really provide a dramatic effect to your look. To achieve this look:

• Gather a small section of your hair (from the root) and divide into three sections.
• Take one of the outer sections and cross over the middle section, then take the other outer piece and wrap it over the middle section.
• Continue repeating these steps and tie with a small elastic hair band.

Your look is complete. You can braid any part of your hair in any place you want it to be. You can even clip it to the opposite side of your head.

The Low Pony



The defining points of the modern ponytail is that they are positioned low and hovering either just at or below the nape, and ironed straight to emphasis the length of the pony. To achieve this look:

• Straighten your hair, use a heat protection serum before doing so.
• Gather your hair into a low ponytail, fastening at the nape.
• If you are looking to shape your face you can pull a few strands forward.

You have now achieved the low ponytail. You can choose from a selection of hair bands including a wide hair band and even ribbon.

Hair Tips for the Winter!

It’s important to look after your hair any time of year, particularly in the Winter. This is because the cold weather can make your hair dry and static. Prepare your hair for the cold with these great tips:

• Dry your hair before you leave the house! Especially on cold days...Drying your hair will protect you from nasty colds that are worth avoiding in the Winter months.

• Throughout the winter months try to leave your hair alone and test different low maintenance styles...think of it as hair hibernation. Playing with your hair too much can cause shedding as well as split ends.

• Hot oil treatments! There are various single use hot oil treatments that you can get from your local salon. If you are looking for DIY treatments you can also use extra virgin olive oil. Apply to damp hair and cover with a plastic cap or hot towel. This is great for daily wear and tear!

• Deep conditioning can revive your hair and put back in the nutrients lost from the change in temperature. You can either add some oils to your normal conditioner or buy a deep conditioning treatment.

• Anti Frizz products are great for your hair in the Winter and can reduce static cling and hat hair. Frizz in the Winter is caused by your hair getting too dry...looking after your hair will make sure it is frizz free.

• Don’t wash your hair as frequently as normal. Washing it too frequently in the Winter can take out a lot of the moisture. It is best to wash your hair every third day or every other day.

Top tips to care for your hair extensions!

At Real Hair by Clara we aim to provide high quality hair for every woman every day. We also understand how difficult it is to maintain this high quality due to everyday wear and tear.. Therefore we have devised the following hair care tips to maintain that full, luxurious feel of your hair and extensions alike:

1. Wash your hair carefully: For extensions that are attached to your hair with glue bonds, try and use a shampoo and conditioner that does not contain sulphate. This will ensure the glue remains as strong and effective as possible. When you do wash your extensions brush out all tangles before you head into the shower and gently apply the shampoo and conditioner from top to bottom, moisturizing and rinsing hair well. Extensions lack the oils your hair produces naturally, so you can wait two to three days before each washing.

2. Be careful with heat: Try to leave you hair extensions to dry naturally, but if you lack time dry them using a low-heat hair dryer. Straighteners are known to ruin hair extensions, but as many of us cannot live without our GHD’s it is best to buy a heat protectant.

3. Use the right Hairbrush: Never try to tug at knots or tangles with your hair extensions, this will not only loosen the bonds, but can also damage the hair. Purchase a soft bristled brush for full effect. For glue bonded extensions, tugging at knots pulls on the hair holding the extension, which consequently can cause the hair to snap or break.

4. Avoid knots: If you haven’t guessed already tangles and knots are easily formed with hair extensions but need to be avoided as much as possible. You have no control over this when you are asleep, so loosely tie back your hair each night before bed.

5. Avoid pulling: Sounds like a silly one, but make sure you avoid tugging your extensions, even when drying your hair or tying it up, as it weakens both your natural hair and the glue bonds.
